WEDDINGS
My name is Erin, owner and photographer of Halo Photographic.
I am a former newspaper photojournalist. That's right - I've covered
drug busts, sporting events, political scandals, the occasional
county fair, and much more. Today I use the skills that I honed
at the paper to document weddings. What I love about weddings is
that I get to help my couples document their own family history
as it is happening. With this in mind, I try to remain as unobtrusive
and hands-off as possible, allowing the day to happen as it will.
You will not be handed off to an employee or associate. You get
my undivided and complete attention through the entire process.
I provide a range of coverage options for all types of weddings.
Contact me to tell me a bit about your wedding and what you are
hoping to find in a photographer, and we will put together a photography
collection that is custom fit for you.
Here are some answers to
frequently asked questions about my wedding photography services:
What is your photographic style?
I believe that wedding images
should be timeless, beautiful, and reflect the individuality of
each couple's celebration. I don't like to get caught up in hype
or media terms that have since come to lose their meaning when
improperly applied, but my style could best be described as artistic
documentary photography. I do pose some family groups during the
course of a wedding, but the majority of the coverage will be spent
capturing real moments in an artful way. I do not use a cookie-cutter
approach when photographing weddings, and rarely use the same poses
or setups over and over, preferring to do something a bit different
and special for each couple I photograph. In short, if you like
the photos you see in my galleries, that style is what you can
expect at your wedding.
Do you have liability insurance?
Yes.
Do
you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
I
can light for any and all situations. I can operate well in low
light situations (most churches and other places of worship do
not allow flash), and I am accustomed to working with available
light in those cases. I also bring off-camera lighting gear to
every wedding to give you a wider variety of possibilities for
the final outcome of the photos.
Is your media preference film
or digital?
Documentary coverage is 100% digital. However, the
Gelatin Relief images are made in the darkroom with traditional
film and chemicals. I personally print and process each Gelatin
Relief photo, and they are one of a kind images that cannot be
duplicated exactly.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual
event?
All couples are guaranteed ME as their photographer on their
wedding day. I personally photograph all weddings so that the style
and experience does not vary from wedding to wedding.
Do you sometimes
book yourself for more than one event in a day?
I only book myself
for one wedding a day. This way I can give my full attention to
one single couple in that day.
Do you have a replacement photographer
in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
I do have
several backup strategies in place should I ever have an emergency,
but I have never needed to utilize them to date, as I have never
missed a scheduled wedding for any reason.
What kind of equipment
do you typically bring with you to a wedding?
Professional Nikon
gear, lighting, and plenty of backup gear in the event that something
should malfunction so that I am fully covered for the duration
of your event.
Do you charge for travel?
Within 100 miles of Germantown
MD is included. This covers the Washington DC Metro, Baltimore,
Frederick, Northern Virginia, and surrounding areas. That being
said, I have traveled further for weddings and would be happy to
give you a travel quote if you live outside this area.
How soon
after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Proofs are promised
in 6 weeks, but it rarely takes that long.
Do you provide the digital
files to the client?
Yes. Clients are given high quality digital
files and personal reproduction rights to make copies of photos
for personal use.
Will wedding images be available for viewing online?
Yes.
What kind of albums do you offer?
I offer a few different
types of albums - the more traditional matted albums, and the more
modern digital flush albums. There are a lot of possibilities to
completely customize your album, and all primary albums that I
offer are made with the highest quality and craftsmanship and are
guaranteed for life.
How do we book you for our wedding?
If you
would like to book me, you will need to return my completed contract
and booking fee. This will secure my services for your date. Because
I only book one wedding per day, once I receive these items that
date is closed off to further inquiries. I cannot hold dates for
any reason without these items, and due to the number of inquiries
I get about weddings, I cannot inform you if someone else is interested
in your date.
If you have any questions that are not covered above,
or would like to talk more about your specific needs, fill out
the contact form on the contact page of
this site and I will get back to you as soon as I can!
